Applications Across Industries
Whether FBG components for telecommunications or optical sensing solutions for a variety of industries, LxSix has pioneered the use of photonics to deliver products and solutions that make our customers more competitive, more responsive and more secure.
FBG Components
LxSix FBG components are manufactured according to our revolutionary proprietary process, delivering economy and performance that are unsurpassed. Telecommunications components include:
- Laser and amplifier pump stabilizers
- Raman cascade gratings
- DWDM applications
- Dispersion compensation gratings
- Dynamic gain equalization and gain flattening filters
- Add/drop/DWDM filters on couplers
- Writing of gratings on planar waveguides
Sensor Solutions
LxSix fiber optic sensors have virtually as many applications as there are environments. From the Arctic to the jungle, from ocean depths of 22,000 feet, soaring temperatures of 300° C and crushing pressure of 15,000 psi, fiber optic sensors maintain their reliability.
LxSix’s fiber optic sensors can detect intrusions and monitor temperature, pressure, strain, flow, seismic waves and more. From smart pipelines to smart aircraft, here are just some of their applications:
Oil and gas industry:
- Pipeline monitoring of leak detection, flow assurance, and perimeter intrusion. Operators can proactively track and maintain infrastructure to prevent the disruption of flow.
- Acoustic/Seismic sensing for land as well as ocean bottom sensing for permanent offshore reservoir monitoring
- Asset monitoring of critical equipment in refineries and industrial processes and control environments through temperature, pressure and flow solutions.
- Down-hole monitoring, for complex oil wells and SAGD operations. Fiber optic sensors facilitate enhanced recovery and extraction and optimized production.
- Monitoring of offshore risers and platforms, seabed pipelines and cables.
Wind industry:
- Active monitoring of strain cracks, stresses, shape and pitch of wind blades through embedded composite sensors.
- Dynamic monitoring of turbines sensors efficient throughput and operation.
Homeland security:
- Monitoring of critical perimeters such as harbors, borders, critical infrastructures such as airports, tunnels, dams, high-rises, nuclear reactors, railways, transmission towers, power grids and pipelines.
- Surveillance applications ranging from towed arrays, to physical intrusion detection
- Chemical, biological agent detection
